Very early maturing carrots from Thompson & Morgan - the Carrot Adelaide Read more
Description
Why we love it:
  • Carrot Adelaide is one of the earliest maturing varieties available. Short tops with smooth skinned, cylindrical roots, filling out quickly to give a crunchy sweet flavour
  • These Adelaide carrot seeds are ideal for sowing early in cold frames. Be the first to pull carrots this spring!
  • Thompson & Morgan's Carrot Adelaide seeds are in the RHS Vegetable Collection
  • Carrots are packed with Vitamin A and most kids love them so are ideal for introducing toddlers to veg. Interestingly as the carrots cook nutrient levels increase, except when overcooked. They should still retain a little bite

    What you need to know:
  • 1 x pack of Carrot Adelaide seeds
  • Each pack contains approx 750 seeds
  • Sowing instructions: sow in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny, spot spring to mid summer in drills 1cm (½in) deep, spaced 30cm (12in) apart
  • Can be sown January to February in containers under protection/frames for earliest roots
  • Carrots prefer a deep, rich well drained soil which does not contain fresh manure
  • As soon as the seedlings are large enough to handle, start thinning them out so that they are finally 10cm (4in) apart
  • Harvest Summer/Autumn
