GET CREATIVE WITH COLOUR

Choose a colour theme for your borders and patio containers to convey an elegant, romantic or party atomsphere in your garden

COOL WHITES AND GREENS

Add a touch of elegance to your outdoor space with a palette of crisp whites and emerald greens. This simple mix of colours lends a clean, sophisticated look to the garden, and is easy to create with a range of white, cream and green blooms, offset with lush foliage. Try a selection of ferns, roses, hellebores, viburnums and deutzias for a cool colour combination.

PURELY PASTELS

Bring romance into your garden with a pretty pastel colour theme. A blend of baby pinks, pale blues, soft mauves and purples will create a peaceful retreat, helping to soothe frayed nerves. Also try a few white highlights here and there to add a little sparkle. To create a beautiful spring and summer show in this soft, sorbet colour range, try a combination of aquilegias, scabious, deutzias, phlox, campanulas, and
scented pinks and honeysuckles.

HOT TO TROT

Ideal for party animals, vibrant reds, zesty oranges and citrus yellows will fire up any dull border or patio display. These hot, sassy shades will make a dramatic statement, but take care not to use them too liberally, or they may then fight each other for attention and look messy. Mix them with blue or purple plants to temper the heat, or use them to add spots of bright colour among more muted borders to lift the energy. Our favourite fiery blooms include geums, osteospermums, primroses, tulips, forsythia, leopard’s bane, ranunculus, and spider lilies.
