Why we love it:
  • Carex elata 'Aurea', otherwise known as Bowles' Golden Sedge is an evergreen, perennial sedge best suited to wet soil. It will even grow in shallow water making it a useful ornamental grass for growing around water features
  • It's a tuft forming sedge with golden yellow leaves and solid, triangular stems which bear blackish-brown flower spikes in summer
  • The variegation in the leaves develops best when it is grown in partial shade, although too much shade will fade the leaves to a weak green
  • It's a useful species to grow as a specimen plant and will introduce a restful feeling into your borders and provide them with a long period of interest
