Why we love it:
Courgettes and zuchini are great providers of vitamins C & E. Lightly sauteed in lemon or bunged into a stir fry is the ideal way to cook them. In the summer months slice thin longways and marinade with olive oil & fresh oregano before bunging on a barbeque grill for great flavour. If you've still got some left over towards the end of the Summer then courgette is an excellent ingredient for chutnies and relishes
Midnight is an excellent cropping compact variety whose deep green courgettes will continue through season if grown in a pot on the patio.
The fruit have spineless stems so it's a great variety for you to get the kids inspired to grow and harvest themselves. You never know you might even get them eating it....
What you need to know
Each pack contains approx 6 seeds
Sowing Instructions: Sow seeds April to early June under glass for transplanting outdoors. Sow seeds 2cm (¾in) deep in 7.5cm (3in) pots of good seed compost. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag and place at 21-25C (70-77F) until after germination which takes 5-7 days.
Can also be sown direct outdoors from mid May once the soil has warmed and risk of frost has passed, 2.5cm (1in) deep at 60cm (24in) apart in rows 60cm (24in) apart.
Gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions for a few days before planting out after all risk of frost has passed
Harvest July-October (12 weeks maturity)
