Caring for your plant:
Japanese Maples require watering regularly throughout spring and summer for the first couple of years. Rain water is preferable to tap water as it's more acidic and better for foliage colour. Japanese Maples rarely need pruning due to their attractive natural shape but if you need to remove damaged or diseased branches, do so in the dormant season (November to March) as they can bleed at other times of the year, weakening the branches.
