Ho ho ho! It’s Brummie Mummies Christmas Social time.

This year it's taking place at Webbs, Wychbold and is jam-packed with Christmassy fun - from visiting an elf workshop and making reindeer food to seeing Father Christmas in his winter wonderland grotto and going ice skating on a real ice rink!

Children with tickets will get to choose a gift from the Toy Warehouse in the grotto and there will be lovely hot drinks for the grown-ups. Don’t worry if you and your children have never skated before, there are special skates and skate aids (subject to availability) for little ones and the rink team will be available to offer a helping hand. Best of all the ice rink and the grotto sessions at this event are reserved just for Brummie Mummies.

EVENT FORMAT & INFORMATION

  • Please arrive and enter through the Ice Rink entrance from the car park;
  • We will be checking people in from 4.45pm. Please arrive no later than 5pm;

  • Register at the Christmas Cafe next to the ice rink and you will be directed to your first activity;

  • Each ticket includes a visit to the Webbs, Wychbold grotto and ice skating on the Webbs Christmas Ice Rink. There's a hot drink for adults booking too.

  • Between your grotto and skate sessions the Christmas Cafe, conveniently located between the two events will be reserved for Brummie Mummies to warm up and chill out in and will include crafts for children;

  • Each adult or child attending will need to book a ticket in advance. Babes in arms who are not participating in the grotto activities, receiving a gift or ice skating may accompany siblings free of charge;

  • The ice rink is great fun for children;

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event. When skating there must be 1 adult for every 3 children under 8;

  • We advise that 2-3 years old is the minimum age for a toddler to go on the ice. This is dependent on the child’s ability to stand up and walk wearing our specialist children’s skates or if they can safely sit on a skate aid while an adult pushes them.

TIMINGS ON THE NIGHT

  • The grotto experience is approximately 35-45 minutes long;

  • Your ice skate session will be 45 minutes long also;

  • If you book a grotto session at 5pm, 5.15pm, 5.30pm or 5.45pm you are invited to skate on the ice rink afterwards. Simply head to the ice rink between 6pm - 7pm, once your grotto session has finished. Your skate will last for 45 minutes;

  • If you book a grotto session at 6pm, 6.15pm, 6.30pm, 6.45pm you will skate beforehand between 5pm - 5.45pm, allowing 15 minutes to swap skates for shoes;

  • Everyone will experience the grotto and ice rink for the same period of time.

Terms and conditions of Brummie Mummies event booking

By booking for the Brummie Mummies Christmas Social 2019 event all guests agree to the following. Please read carefully to make your visit to Webbs ice rink as enjoyable as possible.

Visiting the Ice Rink

  • Skaters are advised not to bring any items of high value when visiting the ice rink, as storage lockers are NOT provided. Items can be left in the Skate Exchange area with your shoes,  at your own risk. Webbs accepts no responsibility for any items left unattended at the rink while you skate;
  • There is plenty of space for non-skaters to view the skating, either outside or from inside the heated Christmas cafe;
  • All people attending the Brummie Mummies Christmas Social event agree to have their photographs taken and published by Birmingham Mail, Brummie Mummies or Webbs for PR and marketing use. Please advise a member of the Webbs team if you specifically don't want to have your images used.
On the Ice
  • For safety, all skaters should wear gloves and for comfort, all skaters should wear thicker socks than usual. For small children, bring elbow, knee pads and helmets if you have them. There is a limited number of push along skate aids available for use by children to help them around the ice rink;
  • Skate Aids will be available for the session free of charge. They cannot be booked/reserved in advance and are ONLY available on a first come, first served basis at the time of your skate session. Push along skate aids are for use by one or two children, aged 8 and under, to sit upon and an adult to push whilst skating;
  • All children 8 years and under must be accompanied by an adult on the ice rink (one adult to accompany a maximum of three under 8s);
  • ‘Bob-Skates’ are available for young children (up to size 1) to wear over their normal shoes;
  • This year the ice rink has a clear cover. This means you can skate in any weather but still enjoy the outdoor experience. Although the rink is covered, ice is still wet if you fall over so please dress accordingly in warm and waterproof clothing;
  • Skaters can bring their own skates providing they notify one of our skate staff when presenting their ticket;
  • There is wheelchair access into the skate exchange and on to the ice. Please advise a skate marshal if you wish to use your wheelchair on the ice.

After your skating session relax and enjoy refreshments in the Christmas Cafe, next to the ice rink. Toilets are also located near the Christmas Cafe.
