What you need to know:
Plant Type: Fully Hardy Deciduous Climber that drops its leaves in winter
Flowers: Velvet crimson flowers (15cm diameter) in May-July then again sometimes in Autumn
Approx Height after 4 years: 3-4m
Position: South or West wall. Clematis should be planted where the root system is in shade especially from the midday sun
Soil Type: Will tolerate most soil types
Caring for your plant:
Pruning: Unless the plant already has three or four healthy stems growing from the base, all newly planted clematis should be pruned back hard the first spring after planting. Prune established plants In February or March, cut back all the old stems to the lowest pair of healthy buds 15-30cm (6in-1ft) above soil level
