WEBBS JULY GARDENING LIST

July often is one of the hottest months of the year, meaning it can be a great time to sit out in the garden. You’ll need to keep plants looking good by regular deadheading to enjoy longer displays. Make sure you’re keeping plants well-watered and hoe off any weeds which will thrive in the sunshine.

Webbs Grounds team have compiled their list of the top jobs to do in the garden this month:

  • Check clematis for any signs of wilting.

  • Ensure your houseplants are getting enough water if it begins to get warm.

  • Water tubs and new plants if dry but be careful not to overwater.

  • Deadhead bedding plants and repeat-flowering perennials, to ensure continuous flowering.

  • Pick courgettes before they become marrows.

  • Treat apple scab.

  • Clear algae, blanket weeds and debris from ponds and remember to keep them topped up.

  • Order catalogues for next years spring-flowering bulbs.

  • Give the lawn a quick-acting summer feed but ensure you don’t feed the wildflower patches or meadows.

  • Harvest any apricots, peaches or nectarines.
