- Throughout the summer short spikes of starry flowers are freely produced at the tips of the shoots. These are white when they open at the tips of the spikes, blushing pink as they age creating a charming bicolour effect and giving the plant its name
- Hebe flowers are a wonderful source of nectar for bees and butterflies

- Soil: plant in compost-rich soil that is very well drained. Not recommended for heavy clay
- Prune lightly in spring
