  • Conference pear trees are suitable for all trained forms bush, cordon, espalier, fan, half-standard and step over. Blossom is produced in mid-season, and the pears will be ready for picking towards end September
  • To guarantee a bumper crop of pears plant with another tree from the same flowering group (e.g. 'Concorde', 'Beurre Hardy' and 'Williams Bon Chertein')
  • Our specially selected Conference Pear tree has been locally grown in the wonderfully rich and fertile Herefordshire soil
  • So plant a tree now and soon you'll be sampling the fruits of your labour! To enjoy it at its best, keep the fruit for one week at least before eating. They should last for 3 to 4 weeks in good storage conditions

  • Height at point of purchase: approx 4-5ft (1.2-1.5m)
  • Colour: Yellowish Green
  • Use: Dessert
  • Season of Use: Oct-Nov
  • Grown in Herefordshire by Frank Matthews Nursery
  • Pollination: partial self-pollination
  • Rootstock: Quince 'A'. Semi Dwarf. The ideal root stock for bush treesSpecial instructions:
  • On arrival, it is important that your tree is watered and planted within 24 hours
  • To plant, dig a hole which is approximately one and a half times as wide and deep as the pot your tree has arrived in. Add as much organic material as possible (such as homemade compost or farmyard manure). NB: Don't add any fertiliser to the soil at time of planting as it may burn the roots and it will encourage tree growth at the expense of fruit growth
  • Place the tree in the hole and cover the roots with soil up to the surrounding ground level. The tree should be planted to the same depth as it was in the pot (or the soil mark on the trunk in the case of bare-rooted trees)
  • Water well in dry conditions
