- Part of a range of vegetable seeds produced by Mr Fothergill's in association with the RHS, Turnip Tokyo Cross F1 is an incredibly fast growing turnip variety, forming roots within little more than a month after sowing
- The high quality roots have a porcelain white skin, a fine texture and lovely nutty, mild flavour
- You can grow them as 'baby veg', as little as 3cm across, when they're sweet enough to be eaten raw in salads
- Turnip Tokyo Cross F1 has won an RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliability and good performance
What you need to know:
- 1 x RHS Turnip Tokyo Cross F1
- Contains approximately 500 seeds
- Height x Spread: 30cm x 10cm
- RHS AGM
- Choose a sheltered, sunny spot with good rich soil and sow direct where they are to grow in shallow drills, thinning seedlings to about 8cm apart. Protect earlier sowings with cloches and keep well watered through dry spells to avoid them turning woody. Sowing a small amount every three or four weeks keeps the crop coming continuously right through the season. A late sowing in August may be grown not for the roots but for the tops. Sow close together in rows and snip the leaves when they reach about 10cm high for a delicious side vegetable cooked like spinach
- May be grown in patio containers
- Sow: April-June
- Harvest: May-July
