- The clever tunnel system and the right aligned entrance hole requires two turns, so small birds such as Great Tits and Nuthatches can freely pass through the to the main nest, but larger birds and mammals simply cannot bend and stretch this way
- A metal plate on the front offers added protection from woodpeckers enlarging the hole
- Made from FSC-certified wood and painted with environmentally friendly paints
- A strong hanger is built into the back for easy mounting against a wall, fence or tree
- The sloping roof gives the birds shelter from the rain
- The front panel of the nest box opens for easy cleaning at the end of the breeding season (generally around October)
- The main body of the Seattle is made from 15mm thick pine to provide essential warmth for vulnerable chicks but also provide adult birds with an ideal place to shelter in the colder, winter months
- It has an inside area of 12.5cm x 12.5cm allowing sufficient room for the chicks to move around as they grow
- The nest box is 30.6cm tall allowing plenty of room for the chicks to sit comfortably away from the hole/tunnel area, even allowing for any additional materials such as nesting material that the parent birds may have brought in
- With a 32mm entrance hole it is most suited to Great Tits, Crested Tits, Nuthatches and Tree Sparrows but smaller birds such as Blue Tits may also be attracted to the extra security features and take residence themselves
What you need to know:
- 1 x CJ Wildlife Seattle Predator Nest Box
- For best results it should be mounted between 2 and 4 metres from the ground - preferably on a wall or tree
- Site facing north to northeast, avoiding strong sunlight and windy areas
- Tilt the box forward slightly when you hang it so that the roof can keep the rain out
