- Indoors Sowing Guide: Sow indoors a warm kitchen windowsill is all you need for starting these seeds. Sow 1.5cm (½”) deep in pots of compost. Keep warm and moist. A temperature of15-20°C (60-68°F) is ideal. Seedlings appear in 7-21 days. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts) before planting out, when frosts are over. Plant in blocks and allow 40cm (16”) both ways between plants, disturbing roots as little as possible.
