Why we love it:
Carrots are packed with Vitamin A and most kids love them so are ideal for introducing toddlers to veg. Interestingly as the carrots cook nutrient levels increase, except when overcooked. They should still retain a little bite
Red Intermediate is an exhibitor's dream with particularly good length and straight growth.
A variety that you can store easily during winter once picked
What you need to know:
Each pack contains approx 600 seeds
Sowing instructions: sow in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny, spot spring to mid summer in drills 1cm (½in) deep, spaced 30cm (12in) apart.
Carrots prefer a deep, rich well drained soil which does not contain fresh manure
As soon as the seedlings are large enough to handle, start thinning them out so that they are finally 10cm (4in) apart.
