- Outdoors Sowing Guide: Sow outdoors in a seed bed, 0.5cm (1/4") deep, into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Thin seedlings to 15cm (6") apart when large enough to handle. Keep moist and weed free. Or, transplant individually when large enough to handle to 8cm (3") pots and overwinter in a cold frame. Plant out to flowering position in autumn, allowing 20cm (8") between plants.
