Why we love it:Asplenium scolopendrium (Hart's tongue fern) is a superb evergreen fern which makes a lovely foliage plant and gives extra interest in the garden during the winter months Like all hardy ferns, it adds texture and structure to the garden Harts tongue fern is ideal for planting in damp shady corners, in woodland, among shrubs in a shady border or in a waterside location It has leathery, strap-shaped, shiny bright green fronds up to 40cm long and these often have attractive wavy margins. It has received an Award of Garden Merit from the RHS Once established it will require only a minimal amount of upkeep and so is particularly suited for gardeners who are short of time
