Description
Why we love it:
  • Helianthus ‘Lemon Queen' is ideal for growing at the back of a sunny border, and makes an excellent cut flower
  • It is known for attracting bees, beneficial insects, birds, butterflies/moths and other pollinators. It has nectar-pollen-rich flowers and has seeds for birds
  • It has been awarded the prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM) by the Royal Horticultural Society

What you need to know:
  • Plant Type: Deciduous, bushy, hardy perennial
  • Flowers: Lemon-yellow, daisy-like flowers July-September
  • Height: 1.5-2.5m (5-8’)
  • Spread0.5-1m (20’’-3’)
  • Position: Full sun
  • Soil Type: Moist, well drained, loam, chalk, clay

Caring for your plant:
  • Sunflowers are hungry plants – enrich the soil before planting out with plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, and water plants regularly
  • You may need to stake plants in exposed gardens
  • Propagate by division in spring or autumn
  • Cut back after flowering
